Interactive Maps

The mapping suite is the true heart of the MapInsights system, and users can begin with data that contains three simple pieces of information: “product”, zip-code, and a numeric value.  A “product” is essentially anything that has a numeric value associated with it.  Examples include the number of sales for a particular item, the cost of a certain service, a quality rating, a percentage of active households, et cetera.  Once data has been imported, interactive maps of each United States DMA can be generated with your data at the core.  Picture a large puzzle with the DMA boundary as the border, and each colorful puzzle piece representing the footprint of each zip code within that DMA.  Users can easily customize the range of values that appear in the legend, along with the colors that represent each range.  You can also add an additional “layer” of demographic data on top of  your own, which is achieved with transparent hash-marks that sit on top of the colored zip codes.  To navigate, full zooming and panning options let you move the map in any direction while shifting the level of detail.  You can also name, save, and print your maps, and “chat” with colleagues who are looking at the same map in another office.  The net result is an eye-popping display that allows you to see what you might miss otherwise miss in Excel or Access.
