Site Mapping & Architecture
Before a web development project can proceed, it need an effective blueprint. This blueprint generally consists of two primary elements:
1) Webmap - which outlines the website page structure and general navigational flow
2) Database architecture - which details the structure and complexity of the database (when applicable)
This blueprint then serves as a roadmap for the various stages of site developement, from intitial graphic design concepts through to final content population. It also faciliates better, more relevant communication among the personnel involved in the project. A solid site map can help bridge a number of philosophical gaps between marketing and IT/programming staff.
